Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Schmidti Budget mobile application ("the App") on iOS. By creating an account or using the App you agree to these Terms.

2. What Schmidti Budget does
Schmidti Budget is a personal and household budgeting app organized around three categories of money: budgets, goals, and reserves. The App lets you record transactions, plan monthly budgets, and optionally share a budget with members of a household group.
Schmidti Budget is not a bank, payment service, broker, or financial advisor. The App does not move money, does not connect to bank accounts, and does not provide financial, tax, or investment advice. You remain solely responsible for your financial decisions.
3. Account
To use the App you create an account using an email address or a supported third-party sign-in (Google, Apple). You agree to:
- provide accurate sign-up information,
- keep your sign-in credentials secure,
- not share your account with others (each household member should have their own account and join a shared group).
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
4. Permitted use
You may use the App for your own personal and household budgeting. You agree not to:
- attempt to access another user's account or data,
- reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App beyond what applicable law permits,
- use the App to store unlawful content,
- interfere with the App's operation or the underlying infrastructure.
5. Your content
The budget data you enter belongs to you. You grant us a limited licence to store, transmit, and display your data for the sole purpose of providing the App's features (including syncing it to your devices and to other members of a household group you choose to share with).
You are responsible for who you invite into a shared group. Members of a group can view and modify the group's shared data.
6. Service availability
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The App depends on third-party infrastructure (Firebase) and on your device, network, and operating system. We may temporarily restrict access for maintenance, updates, or to address a security issue.
7. Fees
Schmidti Budget is currently offered free of charge. We reserve the right to introduce paid features in the future; if we do, we will make that clear in advance.
8. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time. You can delete your account permanently from inside the App (Account → Delete Account), which deletes your personal data per our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms, in which case we will inform you and give you a reasonable opportunity to address the issue, unless prevented by law or by an imminent security risk.
9. Warranty and liability
We provide the App with the care to be expected from a consumer-grade mobile application. To the extent permitted by law:
- The App is provided "as is" without any warranty of fitness for a particular purpose beyond what consumer protection law guarantees.
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, including but not limited to data loss caused by factors outside our control (e.g. a third-party processor outage) or financial decisions you make based on data in the App.
- Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for intentional wrongdoing, gross negligence, personal injury, or any liability that cannot be limited under applicable consumer protection law.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes in the App or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. If you do not agree to the change, you can delete your account before it takes effect.
11. Apple App Store terms
These Terms are between you and Johannes Schmidt only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or for any claims you have about it. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and is entitled to enforce them against you as a user.
12. Applicable law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, excluding its conflict-of-laws provisions, and excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer with habitual residence in another EU member state, the mandatory consumer-protection provisions of that state remain unaffected.
